So when I made this long smock and short smock it was with the idea that when I got pregnant they would be perfect as they back would just split open more to accommodate the extra bump round the front and I am very pleased to report that they work as designed! Woot!
I took some dodgey pictures in front of the mirror to show how it looks from the side and how the top splits at the back.
I have tried a shorter version as described in my previous blog….much more practical and super with a long sleeve t.
So here is the birthday girl in her new smock…..the inspiration behind my own smock. Just missed the beaming smile and this is the after shot! The pattern was courtesy of Mayfly. The other side was the pattern with sweets and lollypops on. I put little coloured buttons on some the lollypop heads – I’ll try and get a picture of this another day!
I’m going to try and make another top for me that is a little shorter than my last…I sometimes feel as if I’m drowning in it a bit! I made a trip to Fabricland last week and bought some material for making tops – blue poka dots with a red backing and trimming. I’m thinking of having little red pockets on the poka dot side and little poka dot pockets on the other.
I have busy making smocks this week. I started out using this great pattern from The May Fly.
I was making a kiddie smock for a friends birthday present. The pattern was size 2T but I adapted and made it slightly larger so it should now be roughly a 3T. No pictures yet will post as soon as taken.
After making it I loved the cute smock so much I thought why not make an adut version. So armed with a roll of greaseproof paper I made a pattern based on the same design for me! Its also reversible although you can only see one side in the photos. I have been wearing it today and its so comfy. Perfect!
