The Birthday Gardener

It’s a friends birthday tomo and so a close friend and I went shopping in St Leonards On Sea to a wonderful road called Norman Road which has some fabbie vintage and antique shops.

I found these little booties made from recycled yarn – and even though she/he will be born soon and these will probably only fit during the summer months so are very impractical – I just could not resist buying they were such a bargain!

Our friend has recently got really into gardening but adores vintage things with a passion so we have combined the two as a present for her birthday. We found some great old gardening tools and bought a long handled trowel and fork. I don’t have a picture of these yet – will add later.

I thought it would be really nice to make a little seed bag to go with them and got slightly carried away with embroidering it! I made two bags as the other will make a lovely present for someone else and its just as easy to make two. It’s the embroidery that takes the time. It’s a simple drawstring design but looks really lovely and I plan to fill it with seeds from the allotment shop tomo.

I say potato you say….onion?

The pea patch has been very fruitful of late and we have been harvesting like mad. This week we dug up all the potatoes and I spent today drying and cleaning them ready for storage.

I also created some little netting sacks for the onions which have finally dried out. I recycled some old netting that once formed something which I forget! Anyway they are now ready for hanging in the under stairs cupboard.

Yummy…….

Bountious *Spoils*!

Our spoils from today’s allotment picking. Yummy beetroot and taties and loads of gooseberries to make jam with.

* Updated * Gave post a name change due to unwanted traffic from searches looking for something I wasn’t offering *
